Thai massage typically works with compression —The client may remain fully clothed -- rhythmic pressing movements directed into muscle tissues by either the hand or fingers. Thai massage usually takes place on a futon mat on the floor, with the client wearing loose or stretchy clothing like yoga gear. The therapist is also on the mat and moves your body into various stretches and positions, without any work on your part. This is why it is sometimes called "lazy man's yoga". Thai massage can be both relaxing and energizing, so it is a good choice if you want to be active after your massage. The therapist uses a variety of different sequences of techniques on clients, who are either lying face up, lying face down, seated, or on their side. There is constant body contact between the therapist and the client, but rather than rubbing on muscles, the body is compressed, pulled, stretched, and rocked.
Arrival Time Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your first scheduled appointment. This allows you time to fill out our brief health intake form, change and prepare for your massage without feeling rushed. For our regular clients, we recommend you arrive early to allow for a relaxed and unhurried experience. If late arrival is inevitable, your service may be shortened in order to keep on schedule and the original treatment time may be charged. Cancellation/Late Policy If you must cancel a scheduled appointment, please call us to cancel 24-hours prior to your appointment time so that we may accommodate other clients. If you are late, we hold massage appointments 15-minutes past scheduled time, unless you call us to let us know that you are on your way. Communicating Your Preferences Please inform your therapist if you have any specific preferences. For example, if you have any problem areas you wish to address, or if you want the therapist to go deeper or be gentler. Your therapist will appreciate knowing your thoughts and clarifying any issues you may have. Eating and Drinking Try not to eat for at least an hour before a treatment, and avoid the consumption of alcohol on the day of a treatment. Drink plenty of water before and afterward.
